Today - Darwin's Birthday
Today, Darwin's birthday and boy would he have been surprised to hear all the accolades such a long time later. It just shows
- how things evolve.
I am spending the week wrapped in paper - presenting to a workshop over at Goldsmiths College
on Tuesday about Brasilian Media Network Ecologies, as part of a very enjoyable event convened by Scott Lash - the overall
title of the workshop was The Economy of Contribution - and had attendees from Centre de Pompidou, including the incredible
Bernard Stiegler and also from Tate, Chelsea College of Art and Oxford Said Institute among others. My other preoccupations
this week including finishing a paper for a forthcoming Virtueel Platform publication - on the Laboratory as Network, Network
as Laboratory and commencing detailed research for Arts Council England on shifting ownership patterns in the cultural industries.
These areas of research are seeming to converge in my mind and I have sourced some great pictures of alchemical laboratories
which remind me - as with Darwin's celebrations - that time is only time and not so long ago as it might seem.
