Air Conditioning Tips to Save Energy in Perth

Air Conditioning Tips to Save Energy in Perth

You probably use several types of electrical equipment and appliances at home. No wonder you wish that your electric bill would be less than it is in reality. One of the biggest energy consumers at home is probably your air conditioner. If you use it on a regular basis, you are probably accustomed to heavy utility bills every month. Although this is quite natural, there are several ways by which you can effectively reduce your energy bills from RCD Air Conditioning. You can easily reduce your electricity bills without compromising on the use of your air conditioner. Here are some tips that can help you reduce your power bills every month even with your air conditioner running on a daily basis.

  • Do Not Let the Sunlight In: It is true that sunlight is important for you to get your proper supply vitamin D. however, sunlight can easily be avoided during the summer months when you and your near and dear ones at home are melting. If you allow sunlight to enter your rooms and also keep the air conditioner on, it will naturally consume more power. The heat generated by the sun will make the appliance work harder to make the room cool. Thus, the best solution is to draw the blinds, drapes, and curtains in order to prevent the sunlight from entering your room and making it hot.
  • Air Filters Should Be Clean: Upon regular consumption, the air filters of your air conditioner can collect debris and dust particles that restrict the natural flow of the air. Once this air flow is restricted, the appliance will have to work hard in order to keep the room cool. This will make the air conditioner consume more power. Instead of waiting for the air filters to get clogged completely, it will be a good idea to clean them as frequently as possible to allow cool air to flow in from the air conditioner easily. It would be a good thing to clean and also change them once every 30 to 90 days.
  • Set the Thermostat High: When it comes to air conditioners, the lower you go, the more money you spend. Thus, it would be a good idea to set the thermostat as high as possible in order to feel cool. If you can set the temperature at around 10 to 15 degrees higher than what you are used to for around 8 hours a day, will easily help you save around 10% on your power bills every month.
  • Use the Ceiling Fans: If you use the ceiling fan together with the air conditioner, the fan will circulate the cool air throughout the house. This means that your air conditioner will not have to work too hard to pump the cool air in every corner of the room or house. This improved air circulation technique will also let you set the thermostat 4 degrees higher without compromising on your comfort level. It is needless to say that ceiling fans consume less power than an air conditioner and it also allows your AC to do its normal job more efficiently.
